Baa Blah - Branding project

This was the post that I saw initially, from this I messaged Evie and we started to talk in more detail about what she wanted from the design.

For this brief, I collaborated with a fashion student. I haven't worked or talked to many people who do fashion so it was interesting to see how our ideas were the same or different.

This brief is about sustainable fashion, an area of which I'm interested in which is what sparked my interest in this brief.

Communication

We talked over facebook messenger with the details and any developments.

Reference image

Evie wanted the style of the logo to be in this style. Although I had an idea of what she wanted the outcome to be like, more range and detailed referenced imagery would have helped me further, in hindsight I should have asked for this.

The brief

The brief is to create a better representation of the brand 'Baa Blaah' The branding that already exists is established within the clothing.

The deliverables

  • A logo

Considerations
  • Keep the colours the same as the original design
  • Look fun
  • Expressive

Ideas

This idea was quite decorative. I wanted to develop the idea from a sketch than rather just from digital development as the brief requirements as being 'fun' from this I developed these ideas further.

I sent these sketches to Evie to see what she thought and then developed them further. These ideas were based on the considerations of the brief.

Outcome

Logo

Vector image created through sketch and outline of the original shape of the logo.

The colours are taken from the original logo as well.

Background

Inspired by the image of wool, which the brand represents, there wasn't much development to this aspect. I did a quick sketch on paper and then scanned the image into digitally develop further.

Touchpoint

The outcomes have also developed further to be a touchpoint in order to be interactive with the audience. I think the designs are adaptable which makes them appropriate for other uses to expand the brand more.

The outcome overall was successful, I was able to fulfil the requirements of the brief and the effectively communicate the ideas and developments that were had.

This brief was informative in establishing my interest in sustainability, bright colours. Also further establishing the importance of communication between the designer and client, I enjoyed working on this brief largely because of the effective communication which we had, I've taken a lot of doing this brief  the most important aspect to the success of the outcome was honesty between us, if something wasn't suitable it was easy to fix with frequent messaging that we had.

I think I was able to manage my time between my own work and this one, I would like to be better at balancing this and also work with sustainable brands within my individual practice.
