What to include - 2

Studio Brief 02
  • Your self branding
  • consistent /appropriate use of type (relevant to tone of voice rounded to convey friendliness)
  • consistent/ appropriate use of colour
  • Use of presentation
Be humble

Make mistakes

There is nothing that there is a more certain sign of insanity than to do the same thing over and over and expect the results to be different'
  • Dont be afraid to show you're human
  • Be yourself, personality goes a long way
  • Dress Appropriately
  • Take your time, breathe - don't rush
Be visual
  • Don't give a speech
  • Don't have too much text
  • Put on a show
  • The more strikingly visual your presentation is the more people will remember it
  • And more importantly they will remember you
  • Create an interesting and engaging visual presentation

Way to resolve nerves:

Print outs - might have to much text
Make really visual full screen of one image no more than 2 or 3 images

Make engaging
- asking questions, putting pressure on audience rather than just you - put a theme to the questions
-Video clips
Look at other peoples presentations for inspiration and engaging - colour choices, provocative, having a theme etc Happiness, being bold

Extra notes from discussion:
  • Negativity - can kill creativity, make positive in some way and personal,
  • (Doesn't have to be digital)
  • Revolve around mistakes
  • Starting point - find questions shown on estudio
Research

Looking at examples of others work and the ways they are presented

Craig OldhamIn Loving Memory of Work
Well informed book documenting work around the UK miners strike, the style is unapologetic and bold and presents a powerful tone. With this book Oldham wanted to highlight their points of view in the best way he could. Oldham describes design as being "middle class profession" making it accessible so he wanted young designers to be encouraged to create.

This page is a lot more effective when the lettering has been isolated into just one page without other imagery.

Stefan Sagmeister - Happiness by design

With this talk he established a theme which gave the presentation consistency, the speech had humour and used a lot of visual aid to keep it engaging to the audience, as this was effective it seems using these same techniques works and is something to keep in mind when doing my own presentation.
I particularly like this saying and the way its been presented, its visually entertaining and interesting.

I've had the idea of a title such as being "Being bold with design" or "gaining confidence in deisgn" or "Taking risks in design"
