Studio Brief 2 - Self Branding

For my self branding I really wanted to establish the boldness and brightness of what type of content I aspire to create in the future and what I've currently aimed to do with my work so far. This idea was sparked by many different influences within design, culture and different arts. I look to many different sources for inspiration as I think this id important when looking into creating something personal.

This the two parts of the final design with the two elements of the logo separated, I think it'd be interesting to have a variation of this and my business card design as my final outcome but used for different contexts, such as if I wanted to use the smaller design for something seen at a much faster pace, and for the longer title could be used for publications and maybe web design. I think its important to have both as the

Front & Back of business cards:

I've kept the design very simple with just a singular shape on the front and my contact details on the back, theres enough information for enough clarity for the message to be given.

At first I just wanted my initials but I thought the triangle shaped added a bit more of an interesting element that is versatile and adaptable enough to be used within branding.

I changed the tag line to make it clearer of the services being provided, even though it might've not been essential i think this is something that needs to be taken into account when looking to engage a design interested audience, and the design is quite ambiguous.

I didnt want the design to be cluttered with too much information, I wanted it to be clean and ledgible understand but also bold and bright enough to stand out amongst others, which I think I've been able to achieve with my choices.

Colour swatches:
Type:

I chose gill sans as the type for my self branding as its one of my favorites to use and I've found that its very versatile as its used in a variety of contexts and especially for titles. So to use this as my preference of type to establish my brand seemed the best option for me. Its quite a friendly font with the round nature of the characteristics and such but also has the sense of being bold enough to make a statement which for me this font has the perfect balance of.

Evaluation:

Branding myself as a designer has been difficult as I've not had the confidence to make a name for myself as I honestly didn't really know what I wanted to achieve at the start of everything but for me now I think I have a better understanding for what my goals are and this process has give me the boost to be the designer I'd like to be.

If I could critisize myself in this brief I'd say my time management could be improved and I would like to organize my time more effectively. I also would of liked to develop my ideas more, even though I'm happy with my outcome I know I should of taken more time to look further into my ideas and possibly explore more outcomes.

To summarize I like the way my work has developed and to be able to have a brand to use and develop as I progress has given me a lot more confidence.
