Girl gang meetup

The location of this meet up took place at the Brunswick, a space to drink, eat and view artwork and hosts various events.

It was interesting to travel to this location as its quite out of the way from where I usually go around Leeds, so it was interesting to explore a part of Leeds I hadn't really before and see what was there.

Quite a few more people arrived as the event went on and I had the opportunity to speak to most people who were there.

One of the most important parts of attending this meet up was to get more comfortable with networking and building social skills.

I found it quite easy to get in conversation by asking others about what they did, this leads to a natural conversation about different projects and passions which was really diverse within each person I spoke to.

Evidence of interactions

I was able to talk to someone about their ethical business project.

The business itself is something that I am interested in knowing more about within practice. Within a networking context, it was interesting to be given a business card, it was effective within this sort of creative networking environment, especially considering a smaller group.

I also spoke to speak to Rachel and Charly who both work within digital marketing and advertising. They spoke about a passion project that they have been working on and wanted to expand on. They both own an Instagram account by the name 'The little lentil' which posts different images of food almost daily, providing visually appealing and inspiring posts.

They explained that they want to expand upon their brand by creating a business which provides vegan 'junk food' by either a food cart or truck. I explained that one of the briefs I have been working on has involved this same topic and I asked if there was any chance I would be able to collaborate with them on this project.Currently, we have exchanged details and conversed over Instagram a few times to date

It was good that it was a small group as there was the opportunity to speak to most people who were there in quite a lot of detail.

This experience itself was extremely beneficial. I was able to engage with lots of really diverse people in a short space of time, I've made a few connections and I've learnt more about networking. I will definetly be attending more events by girl gang
