30th November 7.00pm
I attended the Tetley's 3rd birthday event. This wasn't advertised very much so I heard about it as I was discussing it with other students.
Finding the building was quite easy, I followed google maps and in the end it wasn't very far, although the location is quite hidden I can imagine without a phone or map I would of had a lot of difficulty finding the building.
The building itself is really impressive the tetley being written in bright lights made it stand out a the time of night.
The building is really large in size, so finding the event was a bit of a challenge. I saw a sign near the bar but there was no indication to the location of the event, in the end I had to ask a member of staff where it was taking place, and even they didn't seem to know exactly. I think this just shows the importance of.
A wide open space. A projected video and imagery of plants. Quite a tranquil scene.

There was a mini bar of sorts in the corner of the room, serving rum and warm apple cider, which was a really nice touch.
I ended up sipping this and walking around. In all honesty i felt very out of place, i was one of the first to arrive so there weren't many people to talk to, also everyone seemed much older and they all seemed to know each other.
I saw maybe one or two students but I didn't see much of them. I had a brief conversation with a university lecturer but she seemed to feel out of place as well. I think this event didn't attract a wide audience, it seemed very exclusive in a way.
There wasn't anything particularly special about this event. I made the effort to look around the building a bit however.
There was currently an exhibition on called "The scientific method" going on til the 22nd January
"The Scientific Method shows how artists have revealed the structures and systems of knowledge that we consume daily, subverting the accepted and confounding the expected"

"Some artworks appropriate a faux-scientific rhetoric, others highlight the potentially unanswerable questions of contemporary science, or employ humour and irreverence to puncture conventional wisdom"
I found the exhibition quite hard to understand. But I appreciated the idea behind it.
The bar space and lounge area was nice and open, the atmosphere was calm, a great space for a social event with the amount of room.
Overall I didn't really gain much from this experience but I will be on the look out for more events.
